PrEP
HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), when used correctly, has been shown to be a safe and highly effective method of HIV prevention in HIV negative individuals. PrEP consists of a once a day dose of (Truvada®, also called tenofovir/emtricitabine).
Before beginning PrEP you will need an appointment with the doctor. We will need to confirm that you are HIV negative and that you have no medical conditions that would prevent you from being able to take PrEP.

PrEP is prescribed for 3 months at a time. You will need to be seen every 3 months for a follow up, during which your next 3 month prescription will be given. Routine follow up allows up to monitor for adherence, HIV infection status, and any possible side effects.
Please do not request a refill for this medication outside of an appointment.
